Lead Based Paint Services

IPR Associates and Environmental Inc is committed to keeping your environment clean.

Lead paint is paint containing lead. Lead is added to paint to speed up drying, increase durability, maintain a fresh appearance, and resist moisture that causes corrosion. It is one of the main health and environmental hazards associated with paint. In some countries, such as the U.S. and the U.K., now have regulations prohibiting the use of lead paint. It is still possible, however, for lead paint to still be found in older properties painted prior to the introduction of these regulations.

Lead paint is hazardous to both children, adults and animals. It can cause severe nervous system damage, stunted growth, kidney damage, and delayed development. It is mostly dangerous to children and animals because it tastes sweet, therefore encouraging children or pets to put lead chips and toys with lead dust in their mouths. Lead paint is dangerous to adults and can cause reproductive problems in men or women.

IPR Associates and Environmental Inc offers certified inspectors that can help you determine whether you have lead paint in your building or not. We will take the time to show you the various ways the problem can be dealt with, and will outline costs of the options.

How it works:

If your home was built before 1978, have your home tested for lead and learn about potential lead hazards. Fix any hazards that you may have. You can get your home checked in one or both of the following ways:

  • A paint inspection — Tells you the lead content of every different type of painted surface in your home. This is most appropriate when you are buying a home or signing a lease, before you renovate, and to help you determine how to maintain your home for lead safety. We provide XRF and paint chip lead testing.
  • A risk assessment — Tells you if there are any sources of serious lead exposure such as peeling paint and lead dust, and tells you what actions to take to address these hazards. This is most helpful if you want to know if lead is causing exposure to your family now.
  • Have qualified professionals do the work. There are Standards in place for certifying lead-based paint professionals to ensure the work is done safely, reliably, and effectively. You can have a combined risk assessment and inspection.
